About NCHS Theatre

​New Canaan High School Theatre is an Award Winning Program, recognized year after year for its excellence.

 Our season encompasses five productions

• Three musicals
• One play (non-musical)
• One student-produced Drama Festival

 
NCHS Theatre offers a comprehensive theatre education, which rivals many college programs.

​Most students who participate in the program their freshman year, continue to participate throughout all four years of High School.
 
Students are exposed to nearly every aspect of the theatre, from downstage to backstage, including:

• Acting
• Singing
• Dancing
• Script Writing
• Choreography
• Directing
• Stage Management

• Set construction
• Props
• Costumes
• Makeup
• Sound
• Lighting
• Running Crew

The students learn by doing.  For each production, time is dedicated after school and on Saturdays, from the time of casting through the performance(s). It’s a major commitment for everyone involved!

​Each year, in conjunction with upcoming shows, efforts are made to offer workshops and lectures, with topics ranging from the art of clowning to tap dancing.
